The new Mærsk Data building is situated at one of the busiest roads out of Copenhagen. The building is characterized by pure grey concrete lines and large
glass areas, and it is passed every day by thousands of cars.
In the panopticon of the building Mærsk Data A/S wanted a decoration. The wall rises vertically throughseveral storeys and is centrally placed in the building, where many of the staff pass by every day, while at the same time it can be seen clearly from the road. The large woven steel wall covering of the decorationhas an acoustics-regulating effect and has been executed as a living, constantly moving wall surface.
The effects of the decoration are very different depending on the season, the time of day and the
weather. During the day the decoration will often look almost steel-grey against the surface with a slight effect of interference in the weave of the steel netting. Towards evening the colour from the neon tubes begins to appear more clearly, and at night the decoration stands as a shining wall hanging that can be seen clearly from the road outside. |
